The students work and get involve with the environmental projects, ecoturistic and the ecological investigations that ARMONIA NATURAL is doing.

They visit farms that use organic agriculture and ecoturistic communities to learn about environmentally friendly technologies, waste treatment, etc .

Rain Forest Educational – Trip
In Costa Rica

ARMONIA NATURAL offers motivated academic enrichment opportunity to learn about the rain forest of Costa Rica, environment, land uses, social and cultural trip.

Goals of the educational trip:

1. To increase global environmental awareness in the collage level students through an intensive hands-on exploration of the rainforest ecosystem.
2. To increase global cultural awareness in collage level student through an exploration of another country and its culture, interacting with costaricans.
3. To develop science process skills through field based learning , inquiry activities, and independent field researches projects.
4. To develop language arts skills through field journaling and oral presentation of field research.
5. To foster environmental responsibility in middle school student through active participation in international environmental service learning activities.
6. To promove an understanding of the word’s environmental health and its dependence on individual awareness.
7. To learn the ecology, biodiversity of the cloud forest of Costa Rica and compare this ecosystem with rainforest in per mountain areas.

Students will explore the rain forest of Costa Rica with the professional biologist and they study the ecology, similarities, differences and relationships between the neotropical rain forest and their local temperate forest.
Emphasis will be placed on broaching the students understanding of intricacies of temperate and tropical biodiversity and how biodiversity impacts global ecological function. The ecological concepts presented in this trips will be set in context of Costa Rica culture and history and will include conservation service learning activities specifically designed to support the academic instruction and link students learning to real conversation issues.

Your program is divided in tree main aspects:

• Cultural, educational and social (working in Monserrat town and school and in Biamontes farm and school)
• Environmentally friendly uses of land ( Anselmos farm and other farms and projects that are implementing new ways to produce reducing the environmental impacts)
• Ecology of the different ecosystems of Costa Rica (cloud forest, premountain rain forest, dry forest, lowland rain forest)

Correlation to the curriculum:

The rain forest Educational adventure is carefully crafted with interdisciplinary enrichment experience woven throughout the program. Students utilize science, math, social studies, and language arts skills in the process of investigating and understanding tropical ecosystems and cultures. Al the time they are with their teacher ( Margherita Bottazzi) The program is specifically designed for those students with a deep interest in natural world and a strong desire to participate in a field based learning program.
